Cancellation policy

Effective Date: August 17, 2026

This Purchase Options Cancellation Policy applies to products offered by Minato Market through a preorder, subscription, deferred-payment, or other purchase-option arrangement.

It supplements our Terms of Service, Return & Refund Policy, and Shipping & Local Delivery Policy.

1. Current Purchase Options

Minato Market currently offers one-time purchases and weekly preorder products.

Placing a weekly preorder does not enroll the customer in:

  • A subscription

  • An automatically renewing plan

  • Recurring billing

  • Automatic repeat orders

  • A free trial

  • A try-before-you-buy program

Customers must place a new order for each weekly selection they wish to purchase.

Minato Market does not currently charge customers automatically on a weekly, monthly, annual, or other recurring basis.

2. Weekly Preorders

Products are purchased, reserved, or sourced from Japan based on confirmed customer demand.

Because sourcing and import arrangements may begin shortly after an order is placed, weekly preorder purchases are generally final and cannot be canceled, changed, exchanged, or refunded at the customer’s request.

This includes cancellation or change requests resulting from:

  • A change of mind

  • Ordering the wrong product

  • Ordering the wrong size or quantity

  • Placing a duplicate order

  • A change in the customer’s personal schedule

  • Failure to review the applicable delivery or pickup date

  • Finding the product available elsewhere

  • Personal taste or preference

Please review the product, quantity, delivery information, and weekly schedule carefully before completing checkout.

3. Order Correction Requests

Customers who notice an error should contact Minato Market immediately at:

shopminatomarket@gmail.com

Please include:

  • The customer’s name

  • The order number

  • The item affected

  • The requested correction

We may attempt to make a correction when sourcing, payment processing, route planning, or fulfillment has not yet progressed too far. However, we do not guarantee that an order can be changed or canceled after checkout.

A requested cancellation or change is not effective unless Minato Market confirms its acceptance in writing.

The absence of an immediate response from Minato Market does not mean that a cancellation request has been approved.

4. Weekly Ordering and Fulfillment Schedule

Our typical weekly preorder schedule is:

  • The weekly selection opens on Sunday evening.

  • Whole fish and uni pre-orders close on Saturday at 4:59 PM Pacific Time. Orders for all other products close on Wednesday at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

  • Products are generally scheduled to arrive in the San Francisco Bay Area on Friday.

  • Local delivery or pickup is arranged according to the date and information displayed at checkout or communicated to the customer.

The specific delivery or pickup date shown on the product page, at checkout, in the order confirmation, or in a later order notification applies to that purchase.

Delivery windows are estimates rather than guaranteed appointment times. A change in route order or estimated delivery time during the scheduled delivery date does not by itself constitute cancellation of the preorder.

5. Payment for Preorders

Unless the product page or checkout clearly states otherwise, the full purchase price is charged when the customer completes checkout.

A weekly preorder is a one-time charge. Minato Market will not automatically charge the payment method again for a future weekly order.

If a product is offered with a deposit, partial payment, or balance due later, the applicable amounts and payment timing will be disclosed before the customer completes checkout.

By completing a purchase with a clearly disclosed later payment, the customer authorizes the applicable remaining amount to be charged according to the terms displayed at checkout.

6. Delayed Preorders

Minato Market makes reasonable efforts to fulfill preorders within the timeframe displayed when the order is placed.

Product arrival may be affected by circumstances including:

  • Seafood auction results

  • Supplier availability

  • Catch or harvest conditions

  • Product quality inspection

  • Weather

  • Airline or cargo delays

  • Customs clearance

  • Government inspection

  • Import restrictions

  • Transportation interruption

  • Other circumstances outside our reasonable control

If we are unable to fulfill an unfulfilled preorder within the promised timeframe, we will provide the customer with an updated estimated fulfillment date when reasonably possible.

The customer may then choose to:

  1. Accept the revised fulfillment date; or

  2. Cancel the affected unfulfilled item and receive a refund for the amount paid for that item.

Customers are not required to accept a materially delayed fulfillment date.

If Minato Market cancels an affected preorder rather than requesting approval for a delay, we will notify the customer and refund the applicable amount paid.

Nothing in this policy limits cancellation or refund rights that cannot legally be waived.

7. Product Unavailability

Seafood availability may change after an order is placed because of auction results, supplier availability, quality concerns, import conditions, or transportation issues.

If an ordered product becomes unavailable, Minato Market may:

  • Offer a comparable alternative;

  • Offer a different size, grade, origin, or presentation;

  • Offer a revised fulfillment date;

  • Cancel and refund the unavailable item; or

  • Cancel and refund the affected order.

The customer is not required to accept a materially different replacement.

We will not charge an additional amount for a materially different substitute without the customer’s approval.

If a substitute is offered and the customer declines it, the amount paid for the unavailable item will be refunded.

8. Cancellation by Minato Market

Minato Market may cancel or limit a preorder for reasons including:

  • Product unavailability

  • Failure of a product to meet our quality requirements

  • Pricing or listing errors

  • Payment authorization problems

  • Suspected fraud

  • Delivery-area restrictions

  • Import or regulatory restrictions

  • Food-safety concerns

  • Circumstances outside our reasonable control

When Minato Market cancels a paid preorder and no replacement is accepted, we will refund the applicable amount paid.

9. Refunds for Approved Cancellations

When a cancellation qualifies under this policy, an approved refund will normally be issued to the original payment method.

The refund will generally be limited to the amount actually paid for the affected item.

When only part of an order is canceled, the remaining items will continue to be fulfilled unless Minato Market and the customer agree otherwise.

After Minato Market issues a refund, the time required for it to appear in the customer’s account depends on the bank, card issuer, payment provider, and payment method.

10. Future Subscription Products

Minato Market does not currently offer automatically renewing subscription products.

If we introduce a subscription or recurring purchase option in the future, the following information will be clearly disclosed before the customer enrolls:

  • The products included

  • The amount charged

  • The billing frequency

  • The delivery frequency

  • The renewal terms

  • Any minimum commitment

  • How to pause or cancel

  • When a cancellation becomes effective

  • How refunds, credits, or already processed orders are handled

A customer will not be enrolled in recurring billing merely by placing a one-time order or weekly preorder.

Any future subscription cancellation method will be reasonably accessible and will comply with applicable law.

11. Custom and B2B Orders

Custom orders, restaurant orders, wholesale orders, catering orders, event orders, and other B2B purchases may be governed by separate quotations, deposits, invoices, purchase orders, or written agreements.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, custom-sourced products are final sale once Minato Market has reserved, purchased, or arranged transportation for the requested products.

Where a separate written agreement conflicts with this general policy, the separate agreement controls for that transaction.

12. Relationship to Other Policies

Product condition, returns, refunds, delivery issues, missed deliveries, unattended drop-offs, and pickup obligations are also governed by our:

  • Return & Refund Policy

  • Shipping & Local Delivery Policy

  • Terms of Service

Where this policy specifically addresses cancellation of a purchase-option order, this policy controls. Where another policy provides greater rights required by applicable law, those rights will not be limited by this policy.
